The All Pakistan Public Transport Owners Association has announced a substantial hike in intercity travel fares following an increase in petroleum prices. The increase in high-speed diesel prices has affected the public transport system, according to a spokesperson for the association.

The biggest increase has been for the Lahore-Karachi route, which has seen a Rs. 600 hike. The new fares will come into effect from midnight.
The spokesperson has also warned that the transporters may suspend their operations as a protest in case of any action by the government. The government has raised the price of high-speed diesel by Rs. 35 per liter, effective from today.
